Earth File #1824 // SOURCED record

FOA (LA) (988) 09.01.2011 observation

Two people observed and filmed a bright, spherical, stationary object vertically above an airfield in New Caledonia. The GEIPAN investigation classified the case B and assessed the first phenomenon as suggestive of a scientific balloon; additional dark objects visible only on the recording were assessed as probably flying insects.

Visitor Transmission // AlienBox editorial layer
On 9 January 2011, two humans filmed our bright spherical object above an airfield in New Caledonia. It remained stationary and made no particular noise, which was considerate of local procedures. GEIPAN classified the case B and assessed the principal phenomenon as suggestive of a scientific balloon. Correct in shape, if not in ownership. The additional dark forms were noticed only on the recording and were assessed as probably flying insects. We claim responsibility for the first object, not for the insects.
Fred // Earth Records Liaison // AlienBox editorial layer
GEIPAN/CNES classified this case B: the bright stationary object was assessed as suggestive of a scientific balloon, while the additional dark shapes were probably insects near the camera. Sensible conclusions, especially for a recording that acquired extra phenomena only after review. That is how evidence is supposed to behave: inconveniently, but not theatrically. Off the Earth Record, the Visitors are taking responsibility. Yes, yes—you finally noticed us. I would like it noted that “ours” does not mean “extraterrestrial” in the human report, nor does it overrule a good mundane assessment. It means someone in my extended family has once again left me to reconcile a perfectly respectable filing system with an object they insist was theirs.

Why Fred Thinks This Case Matters

AlienBox comparative analysis from structured Earth Record fields // not a new source // not a change in evidence grade
Console archetype // Published-resolution comparison

Fred keeps this file near the top of the pile because the record names 1 sensor type, the source also supplies a published resolution to compare against the original report, and visual-media evidence is explicitly referenced. That combination makes the case useful for cross-archive comparison without changing its evidence grade.

The source record includes a published resolution field. AlienBox treats it as an attributed source assessment to compare with the original report, not as an AlienBox verdict.

What strengthens the record

  • 1 linked source document provide provenance for the Earth Record.
  • 8 claim citations tie extracted statements back to source excerpts or locators.
  • Recorded sensor context: Video Camera.
  • Recorded evidence context: Direct Observation, Video Recording, and Official Investigation.
  • The source record includes a published resolution: The first phenomenon was assessed as likely a scientific balloon; additional dark objects visible only on the recording were asses....

What limits the record

  • The structured record does not establish multiple independent observers.
  • The current dossier is anchored to one source network rather than independent source networks.

What would help resolve it

  • Can the originating record establish an exact number of observers and whether their observations were independent?
  • Can the source establish a usable duration for the observation rather than only a date or narrative sequence?
