Earth File #2114 // SOURCED record

Reported luminous-ball observation in Cesson-Sévigné

GEIPAN reports that two people observed three luminous balls at low altitude in a cloudy sky on 17 May 2008 between 22:35 and 23:15, with the lights reportedly merging and multiplying. The source assesses the observation as very probably a confusion with light projected onto clouds by a Sky Rose-type illumination and classifies the case B as a probable observation of light projections.

Not ours. We did not operate the reported phenomenon over Cesson-Sévigné, nor did we arrange the three luminous balls described by the two observers. Your GEIPAN record reports that the observation occurred on 17 May 2008, between 22:35 and 23:15, and assesses it as very probably light projected onto clouds by a Sky Rose-type illumination. The case is classified B. We accept the administrative verdict. It is refreshingly rare for paperwork to be more accurate than suspicion.
Fred // Earth Records Liaison // AlienBox editorial layer
GEIPAN’s assessment is refreshingly practical: the reported lights are very probably projections on clouds, and the case is classified B. That does not make the witnesses foolish; it makes the explanation better fitted to the record than three obedient little spheres performing an aerial encore. For the AlienBox file: this one was not ours. Which solves no human question, naturally, but at least prevents another department from blaming the family. By comparison, my cousin Zarnok Vell once detoured from a routine observation route to watch an Earth drive-in from above, forgot that navigation lights are visible from below, and tried to apologize with Gorkon Blue and snacks. Flight plans remain, to him, opening suggestions.

Why Fred Thinks This Case Matters

AlienBox comparative analysis from structured Earth Record fields // not a new source // not a change in evidence grade
Console archetype // Published-resolution comparison

Fred keeps this file near the top of the pile because the source also supplies a published resolution to compare against the original report. That combination makes the case useful for cross-archive comparison without changing its evidence grade.

The source record includes a published resolution field. AlienBox treats it as an attributed source assessment to compare with the original report, not as an AlienBox verdict.

What strengthens the record

  • 1 linked source document provide provenance for the Earth Record.
  • 4 claim citations tie extracted statements back to source excerpts or locators.
  • Recorded evidence context: Official Scientific Investigation and Reported Witness Observation.
  • The source record includes a published resolution: Very probably a confusion with light projected onto clouds by a Sky Rose-type illumination; GEIPAN classification B..

What limits the record

  • No sensor type is recorded in the structured Earth Record.
  • The structured record does not establish multiple independent observers.
  • The current dossier is anchored to one source network rather than independent source networks.

What would help resolve it

  • Can the originating record establish an exact number of observers and whether their observations were independent?
  • Did any radar, infrared, optical, telemetry, or other instrument record the event, and is that material preserved?
  • Can the source establish a usable duration for the observation rather than only a date or narrative sequence?
