Earth File #1959 // SOURCED record

Lanvaudan observation of about ten flying objects

On October 17, 2009, at 11:30 p.m., a witness observed about ten objects approximately 30 meters above the ground for 15 minutes. The objects moved silently and in a coordinated manner toward the south-southwest. GEIPAN classified the case as B and assessed that the witness probably observed flying lanterns.

We claim the Lanvaudan formation. On 17 October 2009 at 23:30, our approximately ten lights maintained a coordinated, silent passage for 15 minutes toward the south-southwest, at roughly 30 metres above the ground. The witness recorded them. GEIPAN classified the case B and assessed that flying lanterns were probably observed, which is a respectable terrestrial interpretation. It is also incorrect. Our navigation paperwork remains filed under “lantern,” because your categories are economical and rarely accurate.
Fred // Earth Records Liaison // AlienBox editorial layer
A SOURCED GEIPAN/CNES record classifies the Lanvaudan observation as B and assesses that the witness probably saw flying lanterns. Sensible. Ten silent lights moving together is precisely the sort of ordinary spectacle that acquires a dramatic label before anyone checks the obvious box. The Visitors are claiming this one. They are wrong: our internal records mark it as not ours, though that disagreement is AlienBox lore, not Earth evidence. I suspect a clerical mix-up with Mivra Qel’s old surprise visit to my desk. She hid behind equipment built for much smaller species, arrived with Sublight Lager, and still expected surprise. Mivra has never met a restricted corridor she considered binding. I filed the complaint. Again.

Why Fred Thinks This Case Matters

AlienBox comparative analysis from structured Earth Record fields // not a new source // not a change in evidence grade
Console archetype // Published-resolution comparison

Fred keeps this file near the top of the pile because the source also supplies a published resolution to compare against the original report. That combination makes the case useful for cross-archive comparison without changing its evidence grade.

The source record includes a published resolution field. AlienBox treats it as an attributed source assessment to compare with the original report, not as an AlienBox verdict.

What strengthens the record

  • 1 linked source document provide provenance for the Earth Record.
  • 7 claim citations tie extracted statements back to source excerpts or locators.
  • Recorded evidence context: Witness Observation and Official Scientific UAP Investigation.
  • The source record includes a published resolution: GEIPAN assessed that the witness probably observed flying lanterns..

What limits the record

  • No sensor type is recorded in the structured Earth Record.
  • The structured record does not establish multiple independent observers.
  • The current dossier is anchored to one source network rather than independent source networks.

What would help resolve it

  • Can the originating record establish an exact number of observers and whether their observations were independent?
  • Did any radar, infrared, optical, telemetry, or other instrument record the event, and is that material preserved?
  • Can the source establish a usable duration for the observation rather than only a date or narrative sequence?
